Hinged Knee Brace with Adjustable Side Hinge and Four Quick Release Straps

A hinged knee brace built from two rigid moulded shells and one side hinge. The shells wrap the lower thigh and the upper calf, the hinge sits on the outer side of the knee level with the joint, and four straps with quick release buckles pull the whole thing in. The front is left open, so the kneecap stays uncovered.

One side hinge, on the joint

The hinge sits on the outer side only, and an oval cover plate is held over it by two screws. A card of moulded stop pieces comes in the box with a hex key and a small screwdriver, so the hinge can be set to limit how far the knee bends. That is what separates a hinged knee brace from a plain elastic sleeve.

Two rigid shells that hold their shape

The shells are moulded plastic rather than fabric, so this knee support brace keeps its shape once it is on. Ventilation slots are pressed into both of them, and each strap threads through a wide cut out in the shell it belongs to.

Four straps, two above and two below

Two straps sit on the thigh shell and two on the calf shell, each with its own quick release buckle on a triangular anchor riveted to the edge. Thigh and calf tighten separately, which is more adjustment than most hinged braces for knee wear give you.

Soft lining against the skin

Velour faced foam runs along every edge of both shells, so the rigid plastic never sits directly on skin, and the lining lifts out of the shells.

Open at the front

Nothing crosses the kneecap. The two shells sit above and below the knee and the hinge joins them round the side, so the front of the knee stays open.

Left or right, black or white

Because the hinge sits on one side only, this knee brace is made as a left leg version and a right leg version, and each shell carries a small printed label so you can tell them apart. Choose black or white.
