Revolutionary Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) for dropped foot treatment

The Push Braces Ankle Foot Orthosis (Push Ortho AFO) is designed for disorders such as drop foot and ankle instability, providing exceptional gait support and controlled stabilisation. Its anatomical design and secure strapping mechanism promote safer walking, functional stability, and daily support while minimising undesired movement.

  • Facilitates a natural gait, enabling safe and efficient walking.
  • Controls plantar flexion after heel strike and allows for unimpeded foot rolling.
  • Provides lateral stability to the ankle joint.
  • Features adjustable elastic straps for personalised fit.
  • Degree of dynamic foot lift can be tailored to individual needs.

The Push Braces Ortho AFO Ankle Foot Orthosis is ideal for those who struggle to lift their foot or control it while walking. This brace is part of the renowned Push Braces range, designed to restore a natural gait and enhance walking efficiency.

The Push AFO elevates the foot during the swing phase, manages plantar flexion post heel strike, and allows for smooth foot rolling. Additionally, it offers lateral stability to the ankle joint.

With adjustable elastic straps, users can determine the degree of dynamic foot lift during the swing phase according to their specific requirements. The elastic straps also ensure controlled plantar flexion upon heel strike. During the stance phase, the brace permits flexion and extension in the ankle joint, allowing the remaining function of the calf muscles to be utilised effectively, resulting in a natural and efficient gait.

Unlike traditional shoes that secure the orthosis, the Push Braces Ortho AFO Ankle Foot Orthosis features its own fixing strap system, enabling it to be worn with light footwear, such as slippers indoors.

When to use -

  • Loss of control of the ankle dorsiflexors during the swing phase and loading response (heel strike/foot flat), potentially with ankle instability.
  • Conditions that may involve loss of ankle dorsiflexor function include CVA, hernia, multiple sclerosis, post-polio syndrome, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injury, and polyneuropathy.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Before washing, close the hook and loop fasteners to protect the brace and other laundry.
  • The brace can be washed at temperatures up to 30 degrees C, on a delicate fabrics cycle or by hand.
  • Do not use any bleaching agents.
  • A gentle spin-dry cycle can be used; after this, hang the brace up to dry in the open air.
  • Do not dry near a heating source or in a tumble dryer.
  • To extend the brace's service life, it should be dried after use, if necessary, before being stored.

IMPORTANT

  • The effective use of the Push AFO depends on an accurate diagnosis.
  • Always consult a specialist before using an orthosis.
  • Push braces are designed for use on undamaged skin. Damaged skin must be covered with suitable material first.
  • In cases of poor blood circulation in the limbs, an orthosis may cause hyperaemia.
  • Avoid applying the orthosis too tightly initially.
  • Optimal functioning can only be achieved by selecting the correct size. Therefore, fit your orthosis before purchasing to ensure the right size. Professional staff at your reseller can assist with fitting instructions.
  • Keep this product information in a safe place for future reference on fitting instructions.
  • Check your Push orthosis before each use for signs of wear or ageing of parts or seams.
  • Optimal performance can only be guaranteed if the product is fully intact.
  • To prolong the life of the orthosis, avoid exposure to temperatures above 70 degrees C.
  • Using a rigid orthosis within a shoe may accelerate wear on the shoe's interior.
  • The Push AFO features a smooth surface, including the sole, to facilitate entry into shoes. To prevent slipping, wear the orthosis inside a shoe, shower sandal, or slipper.
  • The Push AFO should be worn over a sock and inside a shoe, shower sandal, or slipper.
  • If using an insole within the Push AFO, ensure its shape and size closely match the orthosis.
  • The Push AFO is suitable for intensive use, including sports involving sharp turns, crouching, kneeling, and jumping. However, intensive stress may reduce the product's lifespan.
  • When putting on shoes, it is advisable to use a shoehorn to avoid hurting your fingers.
  • In accordance with EU regulation 2017/745 on medical devices, users must report any serious incidents involving the product to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the Member State in which the user is located.
